Sunset Reef Campground is a BLM campground located near Whites City, New Mexico, about half way between Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

Camping at Rio Grande Village in Big Bend National Park is worth it, even with some unpleasant attributes.

If you would like to visit Acadia National Park, but want to have hookups, or you were unsuccessful in booking a site inside the park, Bar Harbor Campground is a great option.

North Bend Park has a very large campground with more than 230 campsites, may of them with direct water access.

Hanna Park is a favorite stop for us when we travel to Florida. It’s a beautiful park with more than 200 sites.

St. Bernard State Park is located in Braithwaite, Louisiana, about a 20-30 minute drive to downtown New Orleans. We camped there in February 2024 as a home base for visiting New Orleans, and it was great for that.

Florida Caverns State Park is located in the northwest part of the state, and easily accessed from I-10.

FD Roosevelt State Park is located in Pine Mountain, Georgia, about 25 minutes from Columbus and down the road from Callaway Gardens. At 10,874 acres, it's Georgia's largest state park. The campground has 115 tent, trailer and RV sites. Many of those sites are on one of the two lakes in the park. We visited in wintertime, so the trees were bare. Treman State Park is a great home base for exploring Ithaca and the surrounding area.

Campsites at White Oak are tucked among the trees and have been upgraded with fresh gravel and new (non-weathered) timbers).

Taylorsville Lake State Park is located about 30 minutes from Louisville and close to some of the area's best bourbon distilleries.

Sherando Lake Recreation Area, located near Lyndhurst, Virginia in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests is a popular park with three campground loops.

The best thing about North Beach Park Campground in Burlington, Vermont, is the location.

Machicomoco State Park in Gloucester, Virginia, opened in 2021. At 645 acres, the park is large -- but the campground is small.

Lake Louisa State Park is big! You get a sense of the bigness when you enter the park and drive for quite a while before you get to the campground.

Pocahontas State Park, located in Chesterfield, Virginia, is a large park with a large campground -- 129 RV sites, plus cabins and yurts.

O'Leno State Park in High Springs is a great home base for paddling the Santa Fe and Ichetucknee Rivers and exploring the area springs.

Highlands Hammock State Park in Sebring, Florida, is beautiful, but the campground is tight.

Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster is a gem on Virginia's Northern Neck.
